Description
There are three types of criminal check: Basic, Standard, and Enhanced. They all serve different purposes and you may need a specific type depending on applicant and job role.
A basic check is the simplest form of check, and can be run on any applicant. It involves liaising with the Police National Computer to verify and disclose all unspent convictions for the last five years.
A standard check is required by law in certain industries and job roles. It includes convictions held on central records and records both spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings.
An enhanced check is the most detailed level of disclosure. This contains the same information as a standard check but also includes a local police record check for relevant information. If required, a Barred List check can be added to an Enhanced Disclosure ? for instance, to check whether an applicant has been barred from working with children.
