It is assumed that Spanish conquistadors put their feet on Mobile Bay during 1519, and during 1540, Hernando De Soto visited the territory and slowly it started developing due to the influence of outsiders. During 19^th century, its economy grew due to industrialization. At Tuskegee Institute, founded in 1881 by Booker T Washington, Dr George Washington Carver wrote down his famous agri-research.

In the 50s and 60s, Alabama was the centerfield for civil- movements. From bus boycott in Montgomery (1955-56) to the world-fame Freedom March from Selma to Montgomery (1965) all that took place in Alabama.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc with massive floods along the Alabama coastline. 22 Counties declared as ‘Federal Disaster Areas’.
